This city has the biggest architectural set preserved in São Paulo State, a valuable historical/cultural patrimony, inherited from a wealthy time in XIX century related to coffee culture.
Some streets paved with stones by the slaves are still preserved, as well as the city market reshaped in 2005 and Oswaldo Cruz’s museum.

São Luís do Paraitinga is also known by its musical artist Elpídio dos Santos, responsible for the music in Mazzaropi’s film. The musical tendencies were spread along this city and today this musical movement influences many musicians.

In this city there are many folkloric and popular parties with processions, Holy Spirit Party and its famous street carnival.
